Lindsey Stirling and Pentatonix, “Radioactive”
Your friends use your fame, it’s kind of, like, a joke, like, a game!
Are you happy with how the speech went?
You know, the one that gives housewives/full-time mothers a pension— wages for housework?
It’s ONLY A HUGE VICTORY FOR FEMINISM, SOCIALISM, AND WOMEN OF COLOR. Not a big deal or anything. Tumblr is mysteriously silent about this.

holy shit!
fucking COOL
classical music is not pretentious. classical music is not pretentious. CLASSICAL MUSIC IS NOT PRETENTIOUS and people who claim their own pretentiousness by default of listening to classical music are being ridiculous and are probably the same folks claiming eloquence and refinement by default of having read shakespeare. classical music is only perceived as pretentious because of the snobbish, classist (ha), racist culture that surrounds it and that’s bad and needs to go.
it’s great how sometimes the same people who complain about how “no one listens to classical music anymore” and “it’s a dying art” are the same ones who put it on a pedestal and insist on its removal from the rest of music altogether. glenn gould was probably right when he said the concert hall was doomed for extinction, but y’all are just hurrying its death along with your insane ticket prices, your dress codes, and your insistence on presenting music that is full-bodied, alive, and relatable in an environment of sterility and silence. and isn’t it understandable that some people will have no interest in music written by dead white men? music that oftentimes supplanted or overshadowed that of their own cultures in the wake of imperialism?
don’t even try to pull the age card because western art music continues to be written?? also pretty much every single culture has music as old as or older than the oldest of “classical music” but i don’t hear nearly as many people going around moaning about how no one shows up to the local gamelan concerts. european/american classical music is “sophisticated”; everyone else’s is relegated to the realm of “exotic”. in high school music class there’s classical music and then there’s ~world music~, as if the west’s creations have some how transcended belonging even to planet earth and thus deserve a category all their own. as it is with literature and history, music as it is currently seen and studied is a product of ethnocentrism and colonialism.
let’s not even call it ‘classical music’, because the idea that it is “classical” and therefore consigned to the past and the times in which it was written, and/or “classical” and therefore more ~aesthetically perfect~ than other genres, is fucking rampant and i’m sick of it tbh. western art music is not more intelligent, more sophisticated, or more advanced than any other. it operates with its own set of rules and tools and functions, and if i hear one more person making one more ignorant comparison between rap and beethoven i will fuck their shit up.
Today may be difficult, but you’re another day closer to Animal Crossing: New Leaf’s release! Keep going friend!
![A vertical forest is expected to be completed this year in Milan. There are two tower apartment complexes which contain a total of 400 residential units. The facade of the buildings will be covered with 730 trees, 5,000 shrubs, and 11,000 perennial plants. It is expected to have the same ecological impact as 10,000 square meters of forest.
Aside from fighting smog and producing oxygen, the foliage is expected to provide insulation to the residential units.
